Our story

When I walked off the ferry and stepped onto Big Tancook Island for the first time, my jaw literally dropped. “Why haven’t I heard about this place?” I said to myself. This place is a hidden gem. The first thing I thought of was bicycle rentals since nobody else on the island was doing it. I began with a few bikes and started offering people a hot coffee before they departed.

We have grown since then. Next came a food license, then a liquor license. This year, we continue to operate offering convenient in house made fresh food for the adventurous traveller. We hope you choose to visit our island paradise. Please contact us by text or phone anytime of the year with any questions.

Patrick is a wonderful host – his menu is well written, easy to read, and he will accommodate your needs. Plenty of room to park your bike, stretch your legs, etc. He also offers free bicycle rentals (donations are gladly accepted). He is a class act.

Before, after, or as an integral part of an exploration of this fascinating island, sampling the seafood here is an absolute must! Friendly staff and a short but varied menu make for a pleasant and relaxing break as you watch the tourists and locals in the sleepy little harbour.

“Excellent! The two gentlemen working that day were super friendly, polite and answered all of our questions about the island! Two thumbs up!

“A wondeful little cafe, with the owner Patrick Leonard cooking up some delicious and local foods. A must stop while exploring the charming and historic Tancook Island.”
